Kindred Kitchen is part of our family life, with stock constantly bubbling and bread cooking in the aga at the same time as homework and colouring in going on at the kitchen table.

Gina is the admin girl while Suresh is the chef. They met in Sri Lanka and have moved, 'home,' to Edinburgh after living and working in London for ten years.

Suresh grew up on the coast of Sri Lanka and began working in restaurant kitchens from the age of 15. By 19 he knew he wanted to become a chef and enrolled at a catering school in Colombo. After graduating he came to London to be classically trained at the prestigious Leiths School of Food and Wine.

Suresh has since gone on to work in some of todays most well known restaurants including Le Gavroche under Michel Roux Jr and Ottolenghi under Yottam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi.

Suresh now has more than fifteen years experience of working in professional kitchens. In the last few years he has begun to focus more on cooking for private clients, enabling him to spend more time with his family.

Have a look at our website, it is made as a platform for us to showcase our work.  If you like what you see, get in touch.

Suresh's family's Sri Lankan roots inspire the way we live, cook and eat. Supermarkets in Sri Lanka are mainly for tourists. Locals shop the way we shopped here before huge corporations took over. Using fresh, seasonal, local and homegrown ingredients is second nature to us and we do this as much as possible when we cook for you too, using Scotlands bounty of wonderful fresh produce.
